It was about taking a stand
Ten years ago, I created my very first garden sign. It was bold, simple, and felt a little rebellious: "We Have a Victory Garden." That first sign felt like planting a flag. Not for war, but for a different way of being in the world.
There's something quietly courageous about declaring you have a victory garden in today's world. You're saying you choose to work with nature instead of against it. You're choosing slow growth over instant gratification. You're choosing to feed the soil, the pollinators, and your soul - even when the neighbors might wonder why your yard doesn't look like everyone else's.
But this one - this first one - will always hold a special place. Because sometimes the most radical thing you can do is simply declare: "We have a victory garden."
Feel free to reply with any stories you have about finding meaning in your “victory garden.”
