While, yes, I was a Lego nerd as a kid, I think what really had me hooked was having astronauts and rockets as toys to imagine space adventures with. Nothing is as truly awesome, to children and adults, as the idea of being outside of Earth, actually looking down or seeing it from the moon. Called "the overview effect", many astronauts have said seeing Earth changed their lives. The famous Apollo 9 photo of Earth-rise is often cited as a catalyst to the start of the first Earthday in 1970. I still like to imagine astronauts and space adventures-- why shouldn't there be a space garden in the future?
